Orienteering Week 1

On Wednesday in a sunny morning, Mr McGivern came and knocked on the door. Room three were all happy and excited because we were going to do Orienteering.

When Mr McGivern came into our classroom Miss Deeney said to us to listen and come to the mat. Later on Irene (Mr McGivern’s friend) came in. Mr Mc Givern told us about Orienteering and he drew a map, he drew the table and everything what was in the class but not the chairs, because he said in Orienteering the Chairs move.

He gave me and some other people a yellow paper with a number on it, and a word. After that he told us to go and hide it somewhere. I went and put it next to Miss G’s testing table at the back. When we finished we had to come and tell Mr McGiven where did we hide it. He wrote the number in the broad where he wrote the map. He then told us to grab a pencil and go find the paper, it was very cool and fun. The tricky one was Kilisitina’s because she hide hers under the table. When everyone was ready Mr McGivern said to us “what is the word?” Nobody even know the word so we guessed and guessed but no one got it so Mr McGivern gave us a clue and we worked it out.

After that we got into our maths groups. When we went outside on the field were 2 cones which had a letters on them. We were to the end of the field, and the other group were near the park. When we got ready we had to run around, if you past or missed the word that was on the paper you had to keep on going till you have found it. Irene told us to push all the words till we were finished and no short-cuts we also could only go in one direction.

After that we all had finished and we had to change places. I looked at the word it wasn't the same like the other one. Later on we ran to find the word but it was so easy to find the word because you only had to run. Some people cheated as they played.

After that we had finished the bell rang, it was lunch time. So when we went to class to get our lunch. I hope we can do some other stuff next week than just running.

Howick Historical Village

My favourite thing from the Howick Historical Village was when we went on the Scavenger hunt. It was very cool because there were lots of things that weren't from the olden days. It was very sad because there were some people that lived in a tent or a stick house. Some houses were smelly and the walls were covered in wallpaper, it was paper that was old and ripped, also they did not have a sink.

They had a wing thing which was old and you had to hold onto it and swing it up and down and the water would come down. Every house that we went in there were spider webs on the old stuff. There were some tools, they were sharp. Me and my friends thought they were weapons that could kill people in the olden days.

When we went to the next house we saw some pumpkin & some bread, the bread was in tiny squares. After that we saw some shoes, they were made out of wood and they were painted.

Next we went in a house where there were lots and lots of things. There were irons, metal and soap which was so dry. When we went up the stairs to the next room there was lots of toys. The toys was fun to play, then we saw something where we put marbles in. When we put in the marbles it went up and down, low, lower then it came to the end.

We went in a house that was small and there was brush, bed for a baby and one for the mum and dad. The teapot was there, and there was a doll and toothpaste.

When we finished doing the Scavenger hunt we had lunch. That was Big lunch after that we went back to school in the same bus.

Orienteering.

Orienteering is called the “Thinking sport”, you can run, walk and also jog.

In Orienteering you have to be a team studying  the instructions. They have to be a leader.

You always have to go with a map, or else you will get lost. Orienteering is exercise because you have run or walk.

When you have been to the marker you have to click the control maker on your paper to show you have been there.

Tom&the Dragon

“Can I please go for a play at the pier?” asked Tom. Mum replied “Sure, but I am worried about you because there is a Dragon in the cave so never, ever go near. His teeth are as sharp  as a shark’s sharp fin. When you go in his room is a mess, he will ask you for a game of chess but never, ever say yes. If you do he will barbecue you, or perhaps he will win. He will ask you to fight him with a sword, but never ever say yes. You will ask is it true that you can make bread in a blow,he will give you some fresh bread and some tea to go with it. He say I'll be gone do you want to soar high with me?, but never, ever climb on his back. If you do he will take you up high and he will say “Open your eyes and look around, you will fall and drown, so never, ever look down”.

Tom went down to the pier with his head file with fears, then he saw the Dragon there “A boy, Mama told me to be hidden, stay  and quiet.” The Dragon cried. Tom was surprised and just stood and stared. After the boys talked they became best friends and the two mothers of Tom & the Dragon were saying nervous. So boys and Dragons should never be foes.

Dove-The Dove is a symbols of the Holy spirit because it also a symbols of peace.


Finger of God-The finger of God is a symbols of the Holy spirit because it is also a symbols of a thing like helping,Blessing.


Cloud-The Cloud is a symbols of the Holy spirit because it is also a symbols of Heaven.

The Holy spirit.

This images of the Holy Spirit are Water, fire and wind. They are the three symbols of the Holy Spirit.

1.The symbol of the fire was when the brush was on fire.

2. The Water was the pathing of the sea.

3 .The wind was Rushing through the room at pentecost.

Basketball.

On Tuesday it was basketball. We were all excited, and it was a sunny beautiful day. When we all reached to the tennis court we saw Coach Bruce and Dwayne. We saw a bag full of balls and there were some cones.

Coach Bruce told us to use one hand and keep your eyes on the ball when we were running. When we started our games all we had to do was run to the red cones and run to the white cones also the yellow cones. When we finished running to the cones we had to shoot the ball, if we missed 3 times then we had to pass it to the other person in our team. Coach Bruce picked some of the teams. The names were Lakers, Giant, Breakers and Bulls. It was pretty fun and some people wanted to play again. We played the game 2 times and the people  cheered. When we just finished that game we played another game, it was running and picking up the coloured cones. Our one was white and the other teams had blue, yellow and red. The Lakers team won many, many times. Rachel took the last cone so they won that game.

It was Room 4’s time to come and play Basketball we had to leave. Miss G told us to say thank you to Coach Bruce and Dwayne and then we went to class.
